YLE is pseudoscience

YLE fails miserably at conforming to journalists standard as per CfMM requirements. YLE Uutiset articles peddle the worst of myths, especially in context where Finland has hundreds of thousands of metabolicly ill people, a disservice to taxpayer. YLE Uutiset enforces majority-myths, takes no accountability, and throws ethical complaints away as "feedback".

To begin to expand on this superficially, examples:

YLE Uutiset accomplishes constantly the enforcement of the calorie-is-a-calorie myth and the cholesterol-heart-disease myth. YLE Uutiset sells the majority of females the "victimhood and minority" -story. The promise of YLE Uutiset to Council For Mass Media, Journalists Code, is far from what happens. YLE wastes over 400 million euros a year to demonize sausages - and thus enforce the worst of health myths, the tradition of sugar industry and worst of medicalization.

Veganism is an ideology, except for YLE editors

The fundamental research is not interesting. Yes, I mean peer-reviewed high-quality science based on laboratory quantification and empiricism. Instead, YLE Uutiset enforces the popular myths.

Never mind the fact that systematic research implies that this idea doesn't hold water. Not even the fact that their version of the story conflicts nutrition research review-articles will change the fact, that they believe in this ideology, and the finnish people should, too.

That will be €13,5 a month - the YLE tax - a mandatory, non-optional payment for this nonsense from these easily fooled, poorly educated, or just plain ignorant urbanites (YLE editors).

And and never mind the fact that it still often leads to nutritional deficiency (the link at start of this section).

It is in the interest of animals, that human animals which are factually omnivores, don't get the appropriate diet for human animal? Ie. a failure to conduct even primitive reasoning. And this is the level of narrative that we pay YLE tax for.

Never mind the fact, that "veganism" is always actually synthetic diet plus vegan diet. Industrial synthesis masquerading as some kind of ecological fuzzy-feelgood.

Calories are the only thing, for YLE

Never mind the fact that this single variable model is more infantile as model than stone-age monotheism. Never mind the fact that hundreds of thousands of finnish people suffer from metabolic diseases, due to prevalent ignorance like the cholesterol-myths and belief that added sugar is harmless.

Let us waste 40 million euros a month spoon-feeding this antiquated myth back to the very finnish taxpayers, who will end up with these diseases. And never mind that we as a civilization as much as the YLE editors have not yet woken up to the fact that, this story, too, is propaganda in the face of economic interest.

Never mind the fact that science knows incretins. Never mind the fact that science knows that amino calories are very rarely absorbed for energy. Never mind the fact that none of this model makes any sense, and the longer we pretend this is knowledge, the worse the diabetes epidemy and the even greater non-alcoholic fatty liver disease epidemy get.

Cholesterol is the ultimate myth of finnish people

But it is not the cholesterol. In blood test they don't even measure cholesterol, but lipoprotein such as LDL. Yet you can count on YLE to propagate this myth, too.

Then there is the fact that cholesterol-heart hypothesis is old and obsolete. The heart-disease risk calculator includes other things such as triglycerides, but now we already have 3 variables, and a real factual narrative, and this is...

Even the most recent iteration of this #myth, the ApoB-heart-hypothesis seems to have been sunk with research (tentatively).

And yet, YLE "health articles" meander in the earliest iterations of this one cholesterol or one saturated fats nonsense.

I do kind of get it, if you are ignorant, research of plurality of phenomena is too difficult, but why put ignorant people to generate content on mass-media.

Because YLE Media is a dysfunction.

Knowledge is the very antithesis of what YLE Uutiset is today

Instead we have this mix of old and new: the old is the soviet-style official truth. And the new is even worse, the common knowledge which is not knowledge at all, but a commonly repeated parrot-brain story.

YLE Uutiset simply cannot reach the standard of accurate knowledge

If you really care about health, you would learn more about the hypotheses. PLURAL! But YLE Uutiset is not about learning. YLE Media is not about accurate knowledge.

YLE Media is about majority segment thinks

In this respect YLE becomes the antithesis of what it communicates to be.

YLE Uutiset constantly reminds us of "false knowledge", but this is the very false knowledge. They fail miserably, at their own standard.

Paradoxically, they cater to the largest segment. Absolutely. No way elsewhere, not a millimeter away from this view.

As if this majority didn't already get their say, and in a parlamentary democracy wouldn't be the dominant identity group.

YLE editors take no accountability

The journalists code is unambiguous. Editors should take resposibility, respond clearly to feedback, and correct mistakes.

In reality, this is a hit-and-miss. Some editors do take their responsibility. Others leave the producer or head editor to answer for them.

This is not what their employers, YLE's, ethical standard promises. The Council for Mass Media

But then, YLE throws the ethical complaints away instead of processing them as required.

Also, editors advertise their friends party/candidate/product

And when this is the method, or lack of any journalistic standard & method, you can guess what kind of bias-riddled nonsense some of the articles are.

Take for example the weird and anti-reality narrative that the finnish media projects about the largest identity segment in Finland. Somehow, this fact isn't so in YLE articles. To be fair, it is even worse in many of the majority-segment-directed mass media, or exactly the same.

Instead, let us write stories that enforce the myth of their victimhood. Instead, let YLE Uutiset pretend its a "newsarticle" when some populist politician feeds the majority of women their own mythical ideas of minority identity. Let's keep propagating these tired myths.

Degeneration reminds me of last days of Soviet Union

And let us force the minority segments of Finland to pay for this, mandatory tax to support the majority identity. Instead, let us continue selling the idea that because of certain sex (a sexist idea), they have no accountability despite being The Majority identity group in Finland.

And let us continue ignoring the fact that despite this majority having great school grades, instead of studying fields that would get them 'Big €€€ Pay' that they demand, they themselves decided to study to be hairdressers or nurses, and let us continue pretending that it is normal for them to blame some other gender for this.

And that pretending that this majority isn't a majority is the normest of the Norm, in YLE media, and Finland in general.

In other words?

So what? So what if mediocre editors fail at their job? So what that the most common myths are propagated with tax euros? So what if YLE Uutiset ends up with pseudoscientific nonsense?

I think the answer is clear.

YLE should be de-funded

The idea that we pay over 400 million euros a year for the pedestrian, common myth collections, plus tired movie reruns from era of cowboys and indians, is rotten. This is soviet-level nonsense.

I have never gotten a vote on this. This myth-enforcement costs this society way more than the cost of YLE organization. Plus, what is wrong with the movie editor, movies from intellectually challenged directors who didn't understand "indian" lives on the Asian subcontinent/country of India.

Clearly YLE Uutiset cannot achieve true standard of journalism that has clearly been set out for them. Any more than they can achieve some standard in contemporary entertainment.

As a technical writer documenting systems, and author of articles on biochemistry and computing, I find this situation bizarre. I remember when we had to deal with print - paper based documents. Instead, now we have all the access to knowledge, at least if literacy and langauge skills permit. So, certain intellectual maturity is required, but it is not like it is an impossible task.

Yet again and again instead of knowledge, we get taxpayer funded confirmation bias pretending to be news articles.

It is not the responsibility of taxpayer to support opinion-factory

This institution has all the structure, and only the half the function of a real media company. While the privately owned counterparts also enforce the worst of myth and marketing, and antiquated cholesterol scares, that is voluntary.

YLE Uutiset pseudoscience is involuntary

Note my observation (experience) that YLE Uutiset doesn't conform to the Council of Mass Media code for journalists. What do we get when we have this problem in the context of a mandatory tax for YLE media?

Therefore, YLE media holds no accountability, for what they do.

YLE Media is violence, is what it means

If it is not ethical, and is not voluntary, what is it?

It is violence.

And therefore, the logical outcome in my mind would be to de-fund YLE Media. I could put the €160 I pay a year to some better use.

Hopefully, after de-funding YLE Media, it would be replaced with an organization, that can actually correct its errors, and provide validatable sources for the information they publish.

Instead, YLE is on the level of social media, and popular opinion wins... or something.
